The Kansas City Chiefs and their fans were all excited to celebrate their Super Bowl championship from last season on Thursday night.
But, that celebration now comes with a dark cloud hanging over the stadium.
That is due to an untimely injury to star tight end Travis Kelce.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid announced that Kelce suffered a hyperextended knee in practice.
His status for Thursday’s game is uncertain.
Many fans of the Chiefs and of football are crushed to hear about this injury to Kelce.

The Chiefs could end up missing two of their best players if Kelce is out.
Defensive tackle Chris Jones is also expected to miss the game as he continues to holdout.

The Detroit Lions are also a formidable opponent that should not be overlooked.
They have been a bad franchise for a long time but have seemingly turned a corner.
It will be a great litmus test for the Lions as they get set to improve on their nine-win season from last year.

It remains to be seen how long Kelce will be out, but the chances he plays on Thursday are not looking good.
Injury analyst Deepak Chona seems to believe this injury could hold Kelce out at least two weeks.

If that is the case the Chiefs could be in more trouble then they care to admit.
Kelce has been the best pass catcher in this offense ever since Tyreek Hill was traded.
He has always been a favorite target of Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs must find a way to fill the void of his absence.
