Hall of Famer and current NBA analyst Charles Barkley is not afraid to say anything on his mind for better or worse, and he’s one of the most popular basketball analysts around because of that fact.

Sometimes Barkley can go a bit too far and say outlandish things that aren’t perceived well publicly, but he may be onto something with his latest comments about women basketball players.

Barkley believes that NBA players seen in commercials these days are awful and that the best of the best in the women’s game should replace them or at least get on more commercials.

Usually, athletes in commercials tend to be rigid, awkward or forced because, let’s face it, they’re paid to play a sport and not act in commercials, TV shows or movies.

One look at the many Chris Paul commercials for State Farm is all you need to see regarding how cringeworthy male athletes can be.

Ironically enough, Barkley actually dressed up as a woman for a commercial he did for Weight Watchers a few years back.

Not every athlete has the personality and sense of humor of Barkley or Shaquille O’Neal that can pull these commercials off with relative ease.

Seeing more WNBA players or women college athletes in commercials would be a nice shift and potentially precisely what’s needed to get away from these cringe-worthy commercials showcasing Jayson Tatum, Stephen Curry and Paul.

It’s time to mix it up!
