ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has made a name for himself during his time as a member of the media for having some incredible hot takes, which some may view as absolutely ridiculous.
Despite the ridiculousness of some of Smith’s takes, he definitely knows how to get conversations started in the sports world, and he was at it once again this week as he included Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies and rock-and-roll icon Elvis Presley in the same sentence.
Smith believes that Morant should be getting the same kind of recognition in the city of Memphis that Presley does.
An interesting and ludicrous take by one of the best in the business, and it certainly got the reaction intended.

Why does he KEEP saying this? Has he never been to Memphis? Yes Graceland exists (for obvious reasons) but that’s pretty much the only time you’ll see Elvis stuff unless it’s a music related business. Ja is way more prevalent than Elvis and has been for a while

There’s no doubt that even in just his fourth season in the NBA, Morant is a legitimate superstar with a bright future that could one day lead to multiple championships and a spot in the Hall of Fame.
However, comparing Morant to Presley is a bit of a stretch, even for Smith, who prides himself on these wild takes that make headlines on a daily basis.
Yes, Memphis will need to embrace Morant if he can stay out of trouble off the floor as a superstar and one of the best young players in the league.
No, he doesn’t need or, at this point, deserve the same recognition or love that is given to the late “King of Rock and Roll.”
