The Boston Celtics and their fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

Despite a report of Kristaps Porzingis getting hurt during his time with the Latvian national team, it seems like there’s nothing to be worried about.

The Latvian Basketball Association (LBS) denied that report about him suffering an injury, and while they didn’t announce him as a starter for their game vs. the Dominican Republic, they stated that they would share the lineup later in the future (via Cameron Tabatabaie).

Notably, Porzingis has struggled with injuries throughout the course of his career, so having him banged up to start the season is far from ideal for Brad Stevens and Joe Mazzulla.

The Celtics went to great lengths to acquire the Latvian big man at the beginning of the offseason, even parting ways with one of their team leaders and fan favorites in Marcus Smart.

Expectations and pressure are now at an all-time high in Boston.

A big three consisting of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Porzingis should be more than enough to have the Celtics in the upper tier of the Eastern Conference once again.

They’ve knocked on the door of another NBA championship for quite awhile now, but to no avail, and it seemed like they just needed that one piece that could help them get over the hump.

Now, if Porzingis isn’t that piece, fans and analysts will most likely urge the team to separate their All-Star duo of young stars again, as they have yet to prove that they can win at the ultimate level.
