2020 was a very odd, challenging year for the world and also for all teams in the NBA.

The COVID-19 pandemic shut down everything in a matter of hours.

Because of that, it forced professional sports to take a very long hiatus.

But when the hiatus was over, NBA teams got back to work at winning a championship in a very unique way.

Wednesday marks the three-year anniversary of the Los Angeles Lakers beating the Miami Heat in six games to claim their 17th championship.

ClutchPoints recalled the moment the team seized victory after playing a Finals without fans in the “bubble” in Orlando, Florida.

No one had ever seen anything like it.

NBA teams were flown down to the Walt Disney World resort.

They all remained there without leaving in order to stay safe and make sure no one got sick.

Then, the games went on.

Eventually, it all came down to the Lakers and Heat and LeBron James claimed his fourth ring and his first with the Lakers.

Today, some people don’t believe that this championship counts because of the bizarre conditions it was played in.

However, there are plenty of other fans who fully accept this Finals victory.

the last real championship

Some even say it was the “realest” championship.

That because it was without the distraction of cheering and jeering fans and it was played after several months of rest.

That rest meant that players were in the best physical condition possible.

Arguably the realest championship.
No distractions just hoop. Those who were built to ball thrived.

A lot of people are very thankful for the 2020 NBA Finals.

It came at a time when the world was very scary and basketball proved to be a welcome and wonderful distraction from all that.

No matter your opinion on the Finals from that year and the Lakers’ victory, no one can deny that this will be a championship no one ever forgets.
