The San Diego Padres have had a season to forget up to this point.
However, they aren’t out of the playoff race just yet.
On Wednesday, they managed to secure a series win over the American League-best Baltimore Orioles.
5-2 was the final score in Wednesday’s game.
The fifth run was scored in unique fashion, as Fernando Tatis Jr. came out of nowhere to steal home and completely catch the Orioles off guard.
Before left-hander Cionel Perez was able to deliver an 0-1 pitch to Juan Soto, Tatis came running and the lefty didn’t have time to get in a proper position to throw him out.
On Twitter, Padres TV announcer Don Orsillo posted a video of the moment.
Here comes Fernando! @Padres pic.twitter.com/WW73Px8Ahb

Stealing bases is no easy task.
Stealing home is nearly impossible.
It happens so rarely, because it is generally considered impossible to accomplish.
But not for Tatis.
Tatis turned on the jets and raced home, catching the Orioles off guard and helping give the Padres a decisive insurance run.
Orsillo was excited when calling the play, and the fans at Petco Park in San Diego loved every second of it.
Tatis came home and expressed his emotions, firing up the Padres dugout in the process.
Because stealing home is so rare, it’s always fun to see it happen.
It’s also very impressive to see a player have the guts to be able to do it.
It’s usually something that results in an out, but when it doesn’t, baseball is that much more exciting.
