On Wednesday, the San Diego Padres defeated the best team in the American League, the Baltimore Orioles, by a final of 5-2 at Petco Park.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Padres got an important insurance run thanks to one of their best players, Fernando Tatis Jr.
With the score at 4-2, a left-hander was on the mound and Tatis was at third.
With the hurler pitching from the stretch, he wasn’t even watching Tatis get a huge lead at third base, towards home plate.
In one of the sneakiest plays you will ever see, Tatis started to slowly take off towards home but not at full speed.
While he was jogging towards home plate, he was looking at the pitcher, who had no idea whatsoever about what was going on.
He was clueless, you could say.
At one point Tatis realized he was already midway so the best idea at that point was to sprint towards home.

In the end, there wasn’t even a throw: Tatis stole home and the crowd at Petco Park went crazy.
They might have a lot of teams between them and the last postseason spot, but the Padres are still just 4.5 games behind the last Wild Card.
It’s not insignificant, but it’s very much manageable if they play to the top of their abilities.
Tatis has had a good season after missing the entire 2022 campaign, with a .270/.325/.473 line, 19 home runs, 22 stolen bases, and a .798 OPS.
He is capable of much more, of course, but it’s his first season back from multiple shoulder and wrist surgeries.
He found a way to help on Wednesday, and he delivered.
