Last weekend’s win over the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the playoffs ended with a final score that was likely a lot closer than the San Francisco 49ers would have preferred.
Despite 11 of their 12 wins during the 2023 regular season ending with the 49ers walking off of the field with a victory by 10 points or more, San Francisco only wound up defeating the Packers by a final score of 24-21.
On Sunday, the 49ers will attempt to get back to their dominant ways when they take on the Detroit Lions in this season’s NFC Championship.
When it comes to predictions, former San Francisco defensive back Donte Whitner recently shared his thoughts on what might go down during Sunday’s big matchup (via TMZ Sports on Twitter).
“I’m not expecting it to be close. I’m going to go 49ers 37, Detroit Lions 14.”

As the top seed in the NFC this season, and given the fact that Sunday’s big showdown will be played in their home stadium, the 49ers are big favorites heading into the NFC Championship against the Lions.
But Detroit has already proven time and time again during the 2023 campaign that they are not just the same old Lions that are going to lay down and fold over in big situations.
Detroit head coach Dan Campbell and the team’s front office have transformed the franchise during the last few years to the point where they are now competing in their first NFC Championship since 1991.
Will San Francisco be able to slow down the Lions’ momentum, or will the 49ers come up one game short of the Super Bowl for the second season in a row?
