When the Philadelphia 76ers drafted Ben Simmons, there was a new level of excitement for the organization.

They were trying to build something special after years of mediocrity, but unfortunately, Simmons didn’t work out as well as the team expected.

He did start off strong, but after some issues with his jump shot, character issues, and some hefty fines by the team, they ended up trading him to the Brooklyn Nets.

This ended the Simmons era in Philadelphia, leaving the team to try and figure out their next move.

The 76ers have gotten themselves in a better position, but Simmons did seemingly leave a lot of damage behind.

Georges Niang talked about this in a recent podcast on the “Road Trippin’ Show,” where he was blunt and honest with Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye.

“The Ben Simmons thing, that p***** me off. Because guys are trying to make a living, right?… I signed a two-year deal, and he was like, ‘I’m not playing,’” Niang said.

As Niang highlighted, he was trying to make a name for himself on the 76ers, and when Simmons started having these issues with the team, he immediately lost respect for him.

It was difficult for Niang to watch, as he was ready to help this team win at all costs, and there was someone on the roster who seemingly didn’t want to be there.

Simmons’ career has been something of a roller coaster to this point, one that will be interesting to follow and study as time goes on.
