The Cincinnati Bengals understand that in order to get back to the Super Bowl they must do a better job of protecting superstar quarterback Joe Burrow.
Burrow, when healthy, is a top-5 quarterback in the NFL but he has suffered multiple season-ending injuries often because the offensive line has allowed pressure to get to him.
During the 2023 NFL season, the Bengals got off to a slow start after Burrow took his time recovering from a calf strain that limited him earlier in training camp.
Cincinnati eventually caught its rhythm, but their season was lost when Burrow suffered a wrist injury that required surgery.
Having quality offensive linemen is generally the key to a successful offense and the team did a better job of fortifying the line this offseason.
Billy Price was a former first-round pick of the Bengals and was considered a key part of their O-line at the time but unfortunately he announced his sudden retirement from the league after a health scare, via his personal Instagram account (via Ben Baby).

In Price’s post, he reveals he suffered an unprovoked pulmonary embolism that required surgery.
Price was put on blood thinning medication which puts him at higher risk of an internal bleed, a dangerous situation to be in especially if you’re playing tackle football.
It’s sad to see a former player like Price being forced into retirement, but it’s good reminder to any upcoming and current players that the game of football can be taken away at any time so trying to take care of one’s body should be a high priority.
