Former Champion Warns Chiefs About 1 Key Absence This Season

The Kansas City Chiefs enter the season as reigning Super Bowl champions, which is a position they’re quite familiar with.

And even though most of their personnel is coming back and they will continue to have one of the best — if not the best — offenses in the game, even without Eric Bieniemy, there should be plenty of concerns about their defense.

Former Super Bowl champion-turned-analyst Damien Woody believes the media hasn’t talked enough about Chris Jones’ holdout and the potential disaster it could mean for Andy Reid’s team.

Woody states that Jones’ presence makes their defense completely different, and not having him on the field could be a major factor for the reigning champs.

Notably, it never seemed like the situation would come down to this.

Jones was always vocal about his desire to stay with the team, and the Chiefs were also reportedly eager to do right by him.

He’s entering the final year of his very lucrative contract, and now he’s looking forward to being the second-highest-paid defensive player in the league.

The latest reports, however, show that there has been absolutely no communication between both parties as Jones continues his holdout, and it doesn’t seem like that’s going to change before the start of the season.

Reid stated that the show must go on, and it’ll be up to the next man to step up and fill in for the star defensive tackle, but they will definitely need a huge team effort to make up for the loss of one of the most disruptive defensive forces on Earth.
