After handling the Miami Dolphins in last weekend’s wild-card playoff round, the Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for what should be an excellent matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
It will be the third time in the last four years these two teams have faced off in the playoffs, and the Chiefs emerged victorious in the two previous matchups.
However, this season could be a different story, as Sunday’s game will take place in upstate New York and it will be Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ first-ever road playoff game.
Former New York Jets and Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini said on Fox Sports 1’s “First Things First” that Mahomes needs to step up his game on Sunday; in fact, he blamed Mahomes for the Chiefs not having home-field advantage versus Buffalo.
“You know why the Chiefs are on the road? Because of you Patrick Mahomes. If you’re the greatest of all time as Nick [Wright] claims you are, it’s time for you to be the greatest of all time,” Mangini said.

Mahomes’ numbers have been down this season compared to previous seasons, and as Mangini pointed out, he has had quite a few games with a passer rating under 80 this year.
The former coach also said that while Kansas City is relatively healthy, the Bills are banged up, especially on the defensive side of the football.
Mahomes does have a history of rising to the occasion in big games, but this may be a bit of a different animal for him, as the Bills are red-hot.
In addition, he does not have Tyreek Hill or even JuJu Smith-Schuster on his side anymore.
On the other hand, Mahomes could add to his legend by getting a win on Sunday in Highmark Stadium in front of the Bills Mafia.
