The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and pass-rusher Randy Gregory had an ugly ending to their relationship recently.
According to insider Aaron Wilson, the Bucs released Gregory after the veteran had not shown up to training camp in the time since the team signed him earlier this offseason.
It is unclear why the former Cowboy decided not to show up.
“He’s expected to retire,” Wilson recently reported.

If the retirement rumor is true, the 31-year-old had an interesting NFL career.
After getting drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round back in 2015 out of Nebraska, Gregory had a rollercoaster career in Dallas.
He battled drug issues and injuries in an effort to stay in Dallas for seven years (played in just five seasons).
His best statistical year in Dallas, which ended up being the best of his career as a whole, came in 2018 when he played in a career-high 14 games and recorded six sacks (tied for a career-high).
Gregory would go on to play for the Denver Broncos in parts of two seasons before going to play for the San Francisco 49ers at the end of the 2023 season.
However, in both the 2022 and 2023 seasons, he played less than seven games.
If Gregory had been able to overcome a couple of distractions that he had to battle during his career, perhaps he could have been a real star.
Unless he gets an offer to go play for a new team, the book could be closed on a very odd NFL career.
