The New York Giants, by most accounts, lost their best overall player this offseason in two-time Pro Bowl running back Saquon Barkley.
After the team decided not to give him the contract that he wanted, Barkley bolted for Philadelphia to sign a three-year deal with the Eagles.
After seeing the Giants lose Barkley, former NFL GM Michael Lombardi believes the Giants have no plan.
“You need Saquon Barkley because you have Daniel Jones…I don’t see a plan,” Lombardi said recently on The Pat McAfee Show.

The Giants have made the playoffs just once in the last seven seasons and have won 10 games in a season just once since 2011.
This team has struggled to win consistently since Super Bowl-winning head coach Tom Coughlin left.
Losing Barkley, as things look on paper right now, was a real blow.
This is a player who rushed for over 1,000 yards three times and recorded over 1,200 scrimmage yards four times in his Giants career.
His 2018 Offensive Rookie of the Year campaign saw him record over 2,000 total yards and catch a rookie running back record 91 passes.
It is going to be imperative for 27-year-old quarterback Daniel Jones to have a bounce-back season for this team.
Coming off of a torn ACL last season, Jones is looking to utilize first-round wide receiver Malik Nabers, as well as speedster Jalin Hyatt and veteran Darius Slayton.
But in a jam-packed NFC with all kinds of contending teams, head coach Brian Daboll and his team might be facing an uphill battle in 2024.
