When Sasha Vezenkov was signed by the Sacramento Kings last summer, many people thought he’d have a huge impact on the team and could be the next European star to dominate the league.
But it didn’t pan out that way and now he’s on his way back home
According to Evan Sidery, Vezenkov officially signed a five-year, $18.5 million contract with EuroLeague’s Olympiacos.
This news came just days after the Toronto Raptors waived Vezenkov on Monday.

The 28-year-old star averaged 5.4 points and 2.3 rebounds during his 42 games with the Kings in 2023-24.
After signing a three-year, $20 million contract last offseason, he reportedly grew frustrated with his lack of time on the court and wanted to do more for the team.
Then, in the summer, Vezenkov was sent to Toronto with Davion Mitchell and the No. 45 overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft for Jalen McDaniels.
Vezenkov had a lot of success in Europe before he came to the States and there was hope that his impressive track record overseas would convert to something special in the NBA.
Instead, he never really found a good spot for himself in Sacramento and it became clear that he wouldn’t be there long.
Unfortunately, the Raptors also didn’t have a place for him so Vezenkov is leaving the league after just one year.
There are many successful European stars populating the league right now but Vezenkov is proof that not all people from overseas will instantly have a great time in the NBA.
But this big deal with the EuroLeague will allow Vezenkov to keep playing a lot and making a ton of money in the future.
