The Detroit Lions are looking to make history today in their first NFC title appearance since 1991, as a win for Detroit would vault the Lions into the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history.

Fans from across the country will be cheering the team on from the stands and home, but a former Lions player took his fandom to the skies when he started a “Let’s Go Lions” chant on a plane with San Francisco 49ers fans.

Former safety Glover Quinn, who played six seasons for the Lions, couldn’t help himself during his travels (via Dov Kleiman).

Quinn had a solid career in Detroit after he led the NFL with interceptions and made the Pro Bowl in 2014.

He retired from the NFL in 2019 after 10 seasons, including four with the Houston Texans.

The Lions have come a long way from Quinn’s time with the team, as Detroit made the playoffs just twice and never finished with more than 11 wins in a season.

In 2023, the Lions went 12-5, won the NFC North, and are on the cusp of a Super Bowl appearance in the third season of Dan Campbell’s time as head coach.

Campbell’s coaching is a huge part of the team’s rise, but the roster has also improved dramatically over the past few years after solid drafts and after the acquisition of quarterback Jared Goff.

Detroit will take on a tough competitor in the San Francisco 49ers, though, who rolled to the No. 1 seed in the NFC after solid seasons from their offense and defense.
