Jayson Tatum is one of the NBA’s best players, an MVP candidate, and a possible future champion.
But does he complain too much?
Former NBA coach Stan Van Gundy thinks so and he said as much on Thursday night, during the Celtics’ loss to the New York Knicks.
“He complains on virtually every non-call. Almost every time he misses a shot, he’s upset with the official,” Van Gundy said, via NBACentral.

Tatum wasn’t having a good game on Thursday night, scoring just 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists.
He shot 5-of-13 from the field and went ice-cold from beyond the three-point line, going only 1-of-7.
Throughout the game, Tatum seemed not only frustrated with himself but also with the referees.
Tatum isn’t the only NBA star who is often unhappy with officiating in games but he will need to accept their calls moving forward.
Despite their two recent losses, the Celtics are still poised to win the Eastern Conference and possibly the Finals.
That means he will be spending a lot of time on the court and, therefore, a lot of time with referees.
By complaining too much, he risks getting himself a technical foul, which would only make matters worse.
The Celtics have two more games in the regular season and they will be against inferior teams, giving Tatum a couple of chances to have better games and be in a strong position before the playoffs begin.
Fans of the team are hoping that he will be playing so well that he doesn’t have to argue with the refs.
If the Celtics can win these next games by double digits, Tatum will have no reason to complain.
