Spears highlighted the fact that Drew is the brother of Aaron Gordon, power forward of the Denver Nuggets.
Drew was an athlete for two years before transferring to New Mexico, where he played for the final three years of his collegiate career.
While he was a solid player in college, he didn’t end up getting selected in the NBA Draft and spent the first part of his professional career overseas.
The Philadelphia 76ers did sign him for a time, and he was a member of their summer team.
After a brief G League stint, he did play in nine games for the 76ers, putting up two points and five rebounds in his career debut.
He then played for several other teams overseas before finally retiring in 2023.
Drew is survived by his wife and three children, as well as his brother Aaron, who still plays for the Nuggets.
This loss will not soon be forgotten, both to his family and to the NBA community.
