Sometimes careers in the NBA don’t pan out as planned, even when a player is taken as high as No. 2 overall in the NBA Draft, like Michael Beasley.
Despite being a promising young player out of Kansas State with a bright future ahead of him, Beasley’s career went through some drastic ups and downs and never lived up to the expectations of a high first-round draft pick.
Beasley has played for seven different NBA teams since being drafted by the Miami Heat in 2008 and even took his talents overseas during his playing career to play for the Shanghai Sharks, which has seen many former NBA players come and go.
That time with the Sharks appears to have gotten ugly in more ways than one that prompted the 34-year-old to take to Instagram to explain the situation via New York Basketball’s Twitter account.

Apparently, there was a big game-fixing scandal involving the Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
That’s an ugly situation that no professional basketball player wants to be linked to, especially one like Beasley, who likely still aspires to play in the NBA.
Distancing himself from the scandal is a smart move by Beasley, but it remains to be seen whether the damage is done or if he was involved in what transpired during the overseas game-fixing scandal.
At best, Beasley would be a player signed by an NBA team due to injuries taking a toll on a roster, as he’s considered a short-term fix like DeMarcus Cousins at this point in his basketball career.
