Under the current rules of the NBA, a player becomes eligible for a supermax contract extension if they have played for at least seven years and are named to an All-NBA team.

That means that the better someone performs during the season, the higher their chance of making more money in the future.

This is going to be very helpful to the Denver Nuggets as they negotiate a new deal for Jamal Murray.

On SiriusXM NBA Radio, former NBA star Sam Mitchell said this would work to Denver’s advantage.

If Murray wants the bonus of a supermax contract, he will have to play for at least 65 games and he will have to play his heart out too.

In other words, the Nuggets will eventually have to pay Murray more but only after he really earns it.

A new NBA regulation says that players must perform in at least 65 games to be eligible for an All-NBA team.

And since Murray needs to be All-NBA to get his supermax deal, he will play a lot.

And he will play incredibly well too because the league doesn’t give away spots on the All-NBA team to anyone.

This is all very good news for the Nuggets, who are attempting to conquer the very tough task of earning back-to-back championships.

Murray will, of course, be a crucial part of their chances.

Last season, he averaged 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game.

When the Nuggets pushed into the playoffs, Murray performed even better: 26.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 7.1 assists with a strong 47.3% field goal percentage.

The guard is about to enter his seventh season in the league and is getting close to his possible supermax extension.

To earn it, he’ll have to provide the Nuggets with another sensational year.
