Over the past few decades, the Washington Wizards have had some superstars come through the organization, like Michael Jordan when he came out of retirement and Gilbert Arenas, John Wall, and Bradley Beal, who spent time as the face of the struggling NBA franchise.
Unfortunately for Washington, after they traded Beal to the Phoenix Suns before the start of the 2023-24 NBA season, the team has decided to start from scratch once again, with little to no hope that this franchise can turn things around in the near future, even with Jordan Poole and Kyle Kuzma on the roster.
The future is not looking bright in the nation’s capital, as the Wizards could continue to struggle for many years to come during this rebuilding process because there doesn’t seem to be a clear plan moving forward.
Things have gotten so bad in Washington that notable players on the fringe of being in the league don’t want to play in the nation’s capital because they feel that the franchise hasn’t gone anywhere in the past and the future for the Wizards is bleak at best.
Former NBA journeyman Evan Fournier, who most recently played for the New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons, refused to take an offer from the Wizards and chose to sign overseas instead via NBA Central.
He reportedly had no interest in playing for them and called them a ‘losing team.’

Fournier not signing with Washington is a testament to where the team is headed.
The Wizards would’ve likely given Fournier an opportunity to get playing time and resurrect his NBA career, but he chose to go in another direction, which is not a great look for Washington.
