The Carolina Panthers have officially found the new face of their franchise, with the team drafting quarterback Bryce Young out of the University of Alabama with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

It has been the consensus over the last month or so that the Panthers would go with Young at No. 1, and the team confirmed that on Thursday night by proving the speculation and rumors wrong that they were considering any other player at the top of the draft.

With Young headed to the struggling NFL franchise, the reactions are starting to pour in, with former NFL star quarterback Robert Griffin III and former Charlotte Hornets star Muggsy Bogues taking to Twitter to share their opinions about the former Crimson Tide star.

Another undersized star in Charlotte, you gotta love it!! Can’t wait for him to prove the doubters wrong #heartoverheight https://t.co/VpiB73QCvn

The most significant criticism of Young heading into the draft has been his size and whether his body would hold up in the NFL.

This isn’t the first time a quarterback has been questioned for his size, with New Orleans Saints legend Drew Brees and Russell Wilson currently of the Denver Broncos proving their doubters wrong to both win a Super Bowl title during their careers.

Although Young’s size is obviously not ideal when compared to Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers or Jacksonville Jaguars star Trevor Lawrence, it doesn’t mean he can’t be successful and be the right man under center for the Panthers.

Obviously, it will be a few years before the Panthers know what they have with Young unless he has a breakout rookie season, but as of right now, the team seems content with their selection, and understandably so.
