Sometimes, when one door closes in the NFL, another one opens.

That’s the case with Colt McCoy.

Earlier on Monday, the veteran quarterback announced his retirement from the NFL.

However, he’ll continue to be tied to the game.

According to a report by Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, the longtime NFL veteran will now join NBC Sports for their Big Ten coverage.

NBC Sports is hiring Colt McCoy for its Big Ten football coverage

The two-time Heisman Trophy finalist at the U. of Texas will debut alongside Paul Burmeister and Kathryn Tappen during coverage of Colorado vs. Nebraska on NBC and Peacock on 09/07.

He did make a couple of appearances in the preseason in 2023, but he was released before the start of the regular season.

Over more than a decade in the league, McCoy spent time with the Cardinals, New York Giants, Washington Commanders, San Francisco 49ers, and Cleveland Browns, walking away from the league with 7,957 passing yards, 34 touchdowns, and 32 interceptions.

As a college standout, he was a Heisman Trophy finalist twice in four years with the Longhorns.

McCoy left Texas with 13,253 passing yards and 112 touchdowns, completing 70.3% of his passes and even getting his No. 12 jersey retired by the program.

While he wasn’t able to find the same success in the pros, he was often a part of a roster and one of the most serviceable backups in the league for more than a decade.

The college football season is just around the corner, and having him there should be a significant boost to their broadcast.

Per NBC Sports, he’s going to debut on September 7 when Colorado and Nebraska square off and, hopefully, it’ll be the beginning of a long and successful journey.
