Former NFL QB Reveals His Top Bryce Young Concern

Lots of eyeballs will be focused on Bryce Young, the University of Alabama quarterback who was the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, this fall.

He is now a member of the Carolina Panthers and will look to transfer the success he had in the college ranks into the pros.

However, some are convinced that he will be a disappointment in the NFL because he was measured at just 5-foot-10 during the NFL Combine.

Former quarterback Chase Daniel is one of those who aren’t fully sold on Young, but he says it’s because of the incoming rookie’s weight and not his height.

Most of the concerns surrounding Bryce Young have been on his height.

Daniel feels that Young, who weighs at most about 200 pounds, will not hold up through an entire NFL season and even called the 2021 Heisman Trophy winner “fragile.”

In a world where most pass rushers weigh upwards of 250 pounds, that could be a problem, especially early in Young’s career as he is still in the process of filling out his frame.

Still, there is no denying his skill.

Daniel praised Young’s ability to escape the pocket, and it could be that skill that allows him to hold up despite his modest height and weight.

It was good enough for him to throw for 4,872 yards and 47 touchdowns in 2021 and 3,328 yards and 32 touchdowns last season.

The Panthers have given Young a few legitimate weapons to work with right away that could speed up his development.

Among them are wide receivers DJ Chark and Adam Thielen, as well as running back Miles Sanders, who made the Pro Bowl in 2022 as a member of the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles.
