Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans receives a lot of headlines these days, and many of them aren’t good.

There is endless speculation about his weight, his health, and his future in the league.

Jared Harper, a former Pelicans player, sat down with Tidal League and said that there is so much more to Williamson.

“He is also a good person. I don’t know if the media portrays him to the type of person that he is. He’s a genuine person,” Harper said.

“[Zion Williamson] is a great player… He is also a good person. I don’t know if the media portrays him to the type of person that he is. He’s a genuine person… [Pelicans] coaching staff is great, the whole team is great.”

Harper only played with the Pelicans briefly during the 2021-22 season.

That happens to be the season that Williamson sat out of because of injury.

Still, the Pelican superstar obviously had an influence on Harper, as did the rest of the team.

Williamson first joined the league in 2019 and he has only played more than 60 games in a season once.

In 2022-23, Williamson only participated in 29 games before he was once again forced to sit out for the rest of the year.

You can’t be surprised that much of the attention around Williamson is about his physical problems and his missed potential.

It has now gotten to the point where many people wonder if the Pelicans will cut him loose soon, deciding to trade him away for someone else.

Williamson might be a wonderful young man who is very friendly and close with his peers.

But the NBA is a business and he hasn’t been delivering so the Pelicans might make a tough business decision.
