After getting knocked out of the NBA playoffs for a second straight year by the Denver Nuggets, the consensus was that the Los Angeles Lakers were determined to improve their roster this NBA offseason, with the team willing to shake things up with trades and moves in NBA free agency.
Unfortunately for Los Angeles, the offseason has been brutal for the storied franchise, as all the team has been able to do is retain some of their own players, most of which had player options, which took the control out of the hands of general manager Rob Pelinka and the front office.
Along with failing to improve the roster in free agency and through trades this summer, the Lakers made controversial moves to hire a head coach with no coaching experience, JJ Redick, and to draft a player who might not be able to hold his own in the professional game, LeBron James’ son Bronny James.
With nothing going right for the Lakers this offseason and the team looking like it might have to run it back with essentially the same squad, many don’t believe they’ll be anything more than a Play-In team once again, including former player Eddie House, who made an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd via ClutchPoints.
“I just don’t know where the Lakers stand in all of this, they look like a play-in team at best.”

At this point in time, House might be right about the Lakers as they haven’t gotten any better and have an inexperienced head coach leading the way that has ties to LeBron James, who many feel is running the storied franchise at this point.
Only time will tell what happens with this team, but it is safe to say the immediate future isn’t looking bright in Los Angeles.
