It’s the dawn of a new era in the National Football League.

Top-notch prospects have always had a bit of an ego, and we’ve seen some of them snub teams in the past because they wouldn’t be in a position to get them.

However, more often than not, the players have shown the scouts at least something before the NFL Draft.

That’s why former Super Bowl champion James Jones took offense at Marvin Harrison Jr’s decision not to partake in Ohio State’s Pro Day.

Talking to Colin Cowherd on The Herd, he stated that he’s disappointed in this new tendency.

“If we’re really keeping it 100, Calvin Johnson was better than you in college.”

He understands why players decide not to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine, but not showing up to the Pro Day shows a lack of competitiveness.

He stated that guys like Calvin Johnson were better than him in college, yet they still took part in their Pro Days.

Jones also said that Harrison should’ve given the scouts a glimpse of his talent and prove that no other wide receiver had anything on him.

Of course, these young players are in a privileged position because they know they’re going to get drafted high regardless.

Still, it’s always nice to see those guys who have that competitive fire and continue to look to prove that they’re the best out there, and that could often make a big difference in the way their careers turn out.
