Head injuries and concussions are taken very seriously in the NFL after all the developments about brain trauma over the last decade or so, which has led to the league having its own concussion protocol that forces players to go through a safety process in order to get back on the field.

Veteran quarterback Derek Carr of the New Orleans Saints is currently dealing with a number of injury issues, which includes a concussion that has his status as questionable for Sunday’s game against the division-rival Carolina Panthers.

With Carr not being a player who is content with being ruled out of games, the consensus is that he will clear the NFL’s concussion protocol and suit up for this weekend’s game against the Panthers.

Even though Carr is going through the process of being cleared, there’s still a chance that he doesn’t play on Sunday, but the prospect of him playing after suffering two concussions in the same month has sparked a reaction out of former Kansas City Chiefs star Mitchell Schwartz who took to his Twitter account to question Carr playing this weekend.

He’s had two concussions in less than a month and they’re ok playing him a week after his last one? How is this responsible in the slightest bit??? https://t.co/0rMh9YIGqN

Schwartz does have a point, as it does seem a bit irresponsible for the Saints to throw Carr back on the field after the head trauma he has suffered over the course of a month, but if he clears concussion protocol, New Orleans is doing no wrong here.

At this point in time, Carr and the Saints are battling it out for a playoff spot, which will likely have to come as a result of winning the NFC South division title.
