As things currently stand, the Arizona Cardinals are projected to be the worst team in the NFL during the 2023 season.
The Cardinals’ roster is a mish-mash of veteran players past their prime and young unproven talent that can’t reliably be counted on to contribute.
Couple those facts with Kyler Murray’s injury, and Arizona has little hope of competing against the rest of the league.
Without Murray, the Cardinals are going to struggle to move the football while defensively they will likely have trouble stopping opposing offenses.
Arizona has also not been very shy about its intentions to tank as they recently cut Colt McCoy who was considered to be the favorite to start while Murray continues rehabbing from a torn ACL.
Tanking is a controversial topic in professional sports which is why analysts like Domonique Foxworth are disappointed to see what Arizona is doing via Around the Horn.
“All the players that are there have sacrificed their entire lives to get to an opportunity to succeed in the NFL, and you are short-changing them,” Foxworth said.

A former player himself, Foxworth understands what goes into sticking on an NFL roster and he’s right that the Cardinals are doing a disservice to the players.
Although they are under contract, there’s an implicit understanding that teams will do their best to compete and win games even if there’s a real incentive to try and land a top draft pick.
Despite those negative perceptions, Arizona seems intent on losing games which will make for a poor experience for their fans.
