In one of the least surprising events of the NFL offseason, the Los Angeles Chargers locked up their quarterback for the future.
It was just a matter of time before they agreed to a new deal with young star Justin Herbert, who got himself a massive payday with a five-year extension worth a whopping $262.5 million.
There’s no denying that Herbert is one of the new faces of the league and has the potential to be a legendary quarterback.
Nonetheless, now that he’s got his money and his long-term deal, sports analyst Craig Carton believes the expectations about him have officially changed.
Justin Herbert finally got his bag Are there new expectations for him?

Herbert is no longer a prospect or just another young player learning the ropes of the game.
He hasn’t won a single playoff game in his career thus far, so it’s time he starts delivering and paying this investment back.
Truth be told, Carton might have a very valid point right there.
Herbert, as young as he is, has been caught behind some of his colleagues, and while he’s not the only one to blame for his team’s well-documented shortcomings, the expectations should be way higher now.
He’s perhaps the most athletic quarterback in the game, and he has showcased an impressive ability to extend plays with his feet and his arm.
Moreover, the Chargers have given him an elite set of weapons, and they also have a strong defense.
There’s no more room for excuses, and it’s time he gets the job done, even if he’s in a stacked AFC.
