Future first-ballot, Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets recently missed the team’s mandatory minicamp due to a personal engagement, and it sent reporters, analysts, and fans wild.

According to head coach Robert Saleh, he had spoken with Rodgers prior to the legend choosing to not show up in favor of another engagement.

Rodgers had been with the team for the entire OTA period, so it isn’t like he has missed all offseason.

But still, with mandatory minicamp being mandatory and because it’s the Jets, the media is going to be all over this.

Former player and current FOX Sports analyst Plaxico Burress recently spoke about Rodgers’ decision on “The Carton Show.”

“If you’re a franchise quarterback, when you’re not there, people are going to talk about it,” Burress stated.

The four-time MVP and former Super Bowl champion is entering his 20th NFL season.

He has been around the block and has proven his leadership all offseason after returning from a torn Achilles that cost him all of 2023.

At the same time, the 40-year-old has interests outside of football.

This isn’t a totally uncommon thing.

Again, it would be a bigger story if he hadn’t been there all offseason.

But he was there with the players and coaches for all of OTAs.

With it being Aaron Rodgers, everyone is going to be talking about it.

But in the grand scheme of things, he has been a great leader for this team and is still hungry for that second Super Bowl.

If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t be under contract with the team.
