The NBA Draft class of 2024 has been deemed to be one of the least impressive of all time.

Not even the top three picks are expected to be generational talents, and while all that could change in the future, the excitement is at an all-time low right now.

That’s one of the many reasons why Bronny James had a perfect opportunity to declare for the NBA Draft.

Chances are he wouldn’t even be close to being taken in any other year, or at least within the first 45 picks.

However, this being such a weak class, he’s more than worth the risk.

Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean he’s going to be taking the floor any time soon, at least according to former NBA player Rashad McCants (via ClutchPoints).

Rashad McCants: “[Bronny James] is not going play the first two years. It’s cool.”

Brandon Jennings: “You don’t think he’s gone touch the NBA court at all?… His first year?”

Rashad: “Nah.”

Talking on Gilbert Arenas’ show, the former Minnesota Timberwolves player predicted that Bronny wouldn’t touch an NBA floor for the first two years, and he thinks that’s perfectly fine.

He believes the Los Angeles Lakers will take him and give him a two-way contract, and he’s not going to play at all during his first two seasons.

The Lakers have been good at developing their young players, or at least some of them, and Bronny’s camp will reportedly favor development over playing time early on.

Truth be told, he would’ve benefitted from going back to college instead of sitting for two years.

Then again, he might be able to prove the doubters wrong and earn his minutes in the pros instead, so we’ll have to wait and see.
