The Philadelphia 76ers are about to get a huge boost of energy this week as their biggest star, Joel Embiid, is set to return after months away due to injury.

Embiid is the reigning NBA MVP and arguably the best basketball player alive, so he definitely helps the team’s chances with the playoffs just weeks away.

But can he carry them all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals?

Tim Legler thinks so and the former player stated his case on Tuesday’s “Get Up.”

He said that the 76ers could push past the Miami Heat in the Play-In Tournament and then overpower their opponent in the first round.

Legler also claimed they could beat the Milwaukee Bucks too, who might be their opponent blocking the way to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Legler called Embiid “an unstoppable force” and believes he could lead his team very far with a pair of healthy legs.

That’s a very optimistic view of Philadelphia’s chances, but is it a realistic one?

Embiid hasn’t been playing for a very long time and some sort of adjustment period will be necessary.

It’s also likely that he will have a minutes restriction after his return, which will limit the amount of time he gets to play with the rest of the team.

That being said, Legler is right when he said that many teams don’t have an answer for Embiid.

When he is healthy and playing, the 76ers have the second-best net rating in the NBA and can rival just about any opponent.

If he can play like he was before he was injured, there is a real shot of them going far in the playoffs.
