For the second straight season, the Las Vegas Raiders are going through difficult times.
A year after they went 6-11 and missed the playoffs, they sit at 3-5 after a humbling defeat on Monday against the Detroit Lions, and since then, they have made some major changes.
Josh McDaniels was fired as their head coach, and Antonio Pierce, a former linebacker who has never been an NFL head coach before, will replace him.
Meanwhile, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has been benched, and Aiden O’Connell will take over under center.
While many are now expecting the Raiders to miss the playoffs again, former NFL player James Jones said on FS1’s “Speak” that they will turn things around.and that their players will love Pierce and his style of play.

On Monday against the Lions, Garoppolo converted less than half of his pass attempts, threw no touchdown passes and one interception, and was sacked six times.
As poorly as Las Vegas played, they were lucky to lose by only 12 points to a Lions team that is 6-2 and tied for the second-best record in the league.
Garoppolo, in no way, shape or form, resembles the signal-caller who helped the San Francisco 49ers reach the NFC Championship Game in three of the last four seasons and nearly led them to victory in Super Bowl LIV.
The Raiders do have talent though, including star wide receiver Davante Adams and pass rusher Maxx Crosby, and it’s up to them to figure out how to be competitive again moving forward.
