While it is true that many people celebrate and applaud Russell Westbrook of the Los Angeles Clippers, many others speak poorly about him and the way he impacts teams.
Former NBA player Antonio Daniels thinks that Westbrook is horribly misunderstood and deserves more praise.
“If there was…a poster for misunderstood, Russell Westbrook would be on that poster,” Daniels told SiriusXM NBA Radio.
Daniels told Rick Kamla that Westbrook is the most “unfairly kind of boxed-in star that we’ve had in some while.”

He claims that the negative image that some have crafted about Westbrook has overshadowed all the good that he has done for his various teams.
During his 15 years in the league, he has averaged 22.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.4 assists.
And although he has definitely had his fair share of missteps, it is clear that he’s respected by many other people in the league.
Multiple former teammates still speak very fondly of Westbrook, his skills, and his drive.
They also hail the way he brings a team together, motivates, and encourages them.
Their praise means something, Daniels said.
If Westbrook really was as bad as some think, these people would bite their tongues and never mention him again.
But more people are eager to play alongside him.
In fact, when Westbrook left the Los Angeles Lakers, Paul George of the Clippers was very adamant about signing him.
Sure enough, that is what eventually happened and now Westbrook and George are on the same team.
This, Daniels claims, is even more proof that Westbrook brings a positive impact to the teams he plays for.
