A few days ago, Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd raised some eyebrows when he stated that Jaylen Brown is the best player for the Boston Celtics.
What was the point of that and what was he attempting to achieve by stating his opinion?
Many people have been asking this question, with plenty of writers and analysts assuming that Kidd was attempting to cause disharmony in the Celtics’ roster, especially between Brown and Jayson Tatum.
On Monday’s “Run It Back,” Lou Williams said Kidd may have made a massive mistake.
He said that Kidd’s statement could upset Tatum and drive him to play harder and better in the days ahead.
If that’s the case, Kidd may regret opening his mouth.

There is no doubt that Brown has been a better player than Tatum during the first two games of the Finals.
On Sunday, Tatum had another off night, scoring 18 points and going 6-of-22 from the field and 1-of-7 from the three-point line.
That being said, Williams thinks that Tatum was still helping his team.
For example, he had 12 assists and was just one rebound away from scoring a triple-double.
Just because he’s suffering offensively doesn’t mean he’s completely useless for this team.
Plus, Williams said that Tatum’s shots could start to land in Game 3 and beyond.
Perhaps he heard Kidd’s words and now has more motivation to show up and perform well.
If he can work through whatever is holding him back, Tatum could quickly become a massively important part of his team’s Finals run.
Kidd may have been trying to mentally toy with the Celtics but it could end up backfiring on him and his team.
