Every time Kevin Durant has moved to a new NBA team, fans have paid close attention and speculated about how it’ll affect his place in league history.
He has now played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, and Phoenix Suns.
There was a time, however, when Durant nearly joined the Miami Heat.
On the latest episode of “The OGs Show,” both Hassan Whiteside and Udonis Haslem confirmed that Durant almost came to Miami.
He ultimately didn’t, of course, and it was mostly because any move like that would have been compared to LeBron James.

The period in question was after James had left the Heat to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
During his tenure in Miami, James radically transformed the team, earned them two championships, and stamped his mark on team history.
It probably would have seemed that Durant was walking in his friend’s footsteps if he came to the Heat.
The comparisons between Durant and James are already plentiful and he likely wants to avoid any more.
But Heat fans will now wonder what would have happened if he had suited up for Miami.
It could have led to another grand chapter for the team and may have given them more championships.
They would have remained the most fearsome team in the Eastern Conference, even without James.
There is still a chance that Durant goes to Miami, of course, especially if things don’t get better in Phoenix.
But, would he still get James comparisons if he did it all these years later?
