When the Los Angeles Clippers traded for James Harden, it ended one of the biggest offseason sagas in recent memory.

Harden was infamously upset with the Philadelphia 76ers, forcing their hand and helping orchestrate a trade.

While this trade might seem like a good idea on paper, several analysts and former players have voiced concerns.

One of the recent concerned parties was Austin Rivers, a former Clipper.

According to Legion Hoops, Rivers said, “It’s hard to see how they can be functional moving forward.”

Austin Rivers’ concerns about the Clippers:

“It’s hard to see how they can be functional going forward… They have 4 superstars and 4 guys who are used to being the man on their team.”

Thoughts?

Rivers seems concerned that having four of the league’s top players on one roster isn’t in the Clippers’ best interest.

As he puts it, they are “used to being the man on their team.”

At different points throughout their careers, Harden, Russell Westbrook, Kawhi Leonard, and Paul George have all been viewed as franchise-altering players.

They have been the face of teams, including teams that were otherwise struggling if it weren’t for one of these players.

Now that they are all together, it might be difficult for them to achieve a common goal, especially if their egos get in the way.

The Clippers are currently in the middle of a three-game losing streak, a sign that things aren’t exactly going as planned at the moment.

By adding Harden, the Clippers were hopeful that he was the missing piece to their organization, the player that would put them over the top to go on a deep playoff run.

Hopefully, the tides will change soon, and Rivers’ concerns will not materialize into problems down the road.
