The Baseball Hall of Fame has officially unveiled the 2024 Hall of Fame ballot, with 26 names that will be eligible for Cooperstown if they manage to surpass the 75-percent threshold in the voting process.

Scott Rolen was the lone player elected to the Hall in the most recent voting period.

A new period begins, with several players off the ballot because they were on it for ten years or because they didn’t get five percent of the votes.

Of course, there are also new names: Adrian Beltre, Joe Mauer, Chase Utley, David Wright, Bartolo Colon, Adrián González, Matt Holliday, José Reyes, José Bautista, Victor Martinez, James Shields, and Brandon Phillips.

The New York Yankees in particular have lots of players on the ballot this year.

“Former #Yankees on the @baseballhall ballot: Bobby Abreu, Carlos Beltrán, Bartolo Colon, Matt Holliday, Andruw Jones, Andy Pettitte, Alex Rodríguez, Gary Sheffield,” Yankees insider Bryan Hoch tweeted.

Sheffield was the one in 2023 with the highest percentage of votes, seeing his name on 55 percent of the ballots.

However, this will be his last shot to enter the Hall.

Beltran, who had 46.5 percent last year in his first try, could start his path towards Cooperstown with an increase this year.

At 35.7 percent, Alex Rodriguez will be entering his third year of eligibility, but he is still being punished for his failed drug test and subsequent suspension because statistically, he should have been a first-ballot entry.

The writers will have a deadline of December 31 to submit their ballots.
