The New Orleans Pelicans entrusted the future of their franchise to Zion Williamson after selecting him with the first overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

While Williamson was a great player during his college days, the former first-overall pick has failed to recreate that magic in the NBA.

Williamson’s career has gone off trajectory due to constant injuries since his rookie year in the league.

A key reason behind Williamson’s inability to stay fit is his supposedly unhealthy diet.

Williamson has reportedly failed to improve his conditioning and fails to listen to the team.

Pelicans “have repeatedly stressed to [Zion] Williamson that his diet and conditioning need to improve,” but the former No. 1 pick “doesn’t listen,” per @cclark_13 of The Times-Picayune pic.twitter.com/sl4logTLz4

Now, the controversy has gained more fire after Williamson’s former trainer, Jasper Bibbs, shared posts about the same on his Instagram account via NBACentral on Twitter.

The former trainer shared a picture of a slimmer Williamson and captioned it with “Remember when…”

Considering Williamson is just 23 years old, he still has a lot of years to get his career back on track and one day to reach his full potential.

This season, Williamson is averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.

While his numbers could be better, the primary issue for the Pelicans is Williamson’s poor conditioning.

Williamson has seemingly gained weight over the course of the 2023-24 NBA season.

Can he control his diet and ultimately get in better shape? Only time will tell.
