The trade deadline has come and gone, and now it’s time to focus on the stretch run of the 2023 season.

Shortly after the deadline passed, Framber Valdez got right back to work for the defending World Series champion Houston Astros.

Valdez took the mound and tossed a no-hitter against the Cleveland Guardians as the defending champs pulled away with a narrow 2-0 victory.

The young left-hander made some important history in the process, becoming the first lefty in Astros history to toss a no-hitter.

On Twitter, MLB took note of this important milestone while also posting a video featuring the final out of Valdez’s no-no.

The Astros are now geared up for the stretch run of the season, and they kicked it off in style with Valdez’s no-hitter.

The Astros ace won his ninth game of the year and lowered his ERA to 3.07.

The left-hander walked just one batter while striking out seven against the Guardians on Tuesday night.

But this is some very important Astros history that was made on Tuesday at Minute Maid Park.

Not until last night’s game had a left-hander thrown a no-hitter for the Astros.

Valdez changed all of that thanks to his dominant outing against the Guardians.

He outdueled Guardians starter Gavin Williams, who allowed two runs over five innings.

But two runs were all the Astros needed, as Valdez was locked in and delivered the performance of a lifetime.

Houston won its 61st game of the year in the process, and Valdez played the role of hero for the defending champs.
