With a 62-45 record, the Los Angeles Dodgers have, as expected, taken over the NL West.
They hold a 2.5-game advantage over the second-placed San Francisco Giants.
Their resurgence over the last weeks stems from a lot of reasons, but mainly from a deep, powerful offense that is among the highest-scoring in the game.
The Dodgers have Mookie Betts, James Outman, Will Smith, Max Muncy, and perhaps the most important player in their success: Freddie Freeman.
Freeman, instead of declining with age, appears to be getting even better, which is a lot to say for a guy who won the 2020 NL MVP award.
He is perhaps the hottest player in the National League, as stated by ESPN Stats & Info.
“Freddie Freeman has recorded 31 hits in his last 15 games. That is the most over a 15-game span by a Dodgers player since Ted Sizemore in 1970,” they tweeted.

Think about it: 31 hits over 15 games is basically two hits a night for more than two weeks.
It’s an insane pace, but not at all unexpected from such a talented hitter.
During a time in which power often trumps batting average, Freeman has plenty of both.
He is slashing, as of Friday afternoon, .341/.418/.598 with 22 home runs, 94 runs scored, 76 RBI, and 14 stolen bases.
He already has 5.7 Wins Above Replacement, or WAR.
If it wasn’t for Ronald Acuna Jr., we would say Freeman is a prime candidate to win the MVP this year.
He might still have a shot depending on how he closes out the season.
All that matters here is that, even at 33, he remains an elite player and a fantastic hitter.
