There were many historic moments during Kobe Bryant’s iconic career but some rise above the rest.
NBA History on Twitter celebrated one of the most important and memorable moments from Bryant on Friday morning.
Friday marked the 15-year anniversary of Bryant giving a brilliant and intense quote after going up 2-0 in the NBA Finals against the Orlando Magic.
When asked why he didn’t appear happier after claiming such a dominant lead, Bryant was to the point and honest.
“Job’s not finished,” Bryant said, adding that he won’t be satisfied until his team takes home the Larry O’Brien trophy.

This was a prime example of Bryant, his mindset, his drive, and the Mamba Mentality that people still talk about to this day.
The Lakers held a 2-0 lead over the Magic and were indeed on their way to another championship win.
But Bryant wasn’t resting and wasn’t ready to celebrate because his eyes were firmly set on the big prize and anything short of that wasn’t enough.
This was a huge postseason for Bryant, who averaged 30.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.5 assists during the games.
This moment from Bryant has been talked about again and again in the 15 years since it happened.
Numerous other NBA stars have referenced Bryant’s mindset and have tried to use it as motivation during big moments in their careers.
In the years since his retirement and passing, Bryant has become an icon for any sports star who wants to push themselves hard and achieve new heights of success.
This moment from the 2009 Finals is a clear example of why there never has been, and never will be, anyone else like him.
