Fewer players entered the 2023 NFL Season with more hype than Garrett Wilson.

The reigning Offensive Player of the Year had everything at his disposal.

He was slated to be the WR1 in the New York Jets‘ offense with Aaron Rodgers as his starting quarterback.

Everything seemed right for Wilson and the Jets heading into their Monday Night Football matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

But then, disaster struck.

Aaron Rodgers went down with an injury in the first few minutes of the game, a devastating blow for all involved.

Wilson was quick to respond to this injury, tweeting “Prayers for 8” when the game concluded.

The severity of Rodgers’ injury has not been confirmed, although many suspect it is an Achilles tear.

If that is the case, his season is likely over.

This leaves Wilson’s fate for the season in the hands of Zach Wilson, who is not Aaron Rodgers.

Wilson was selected with high draft capital, and many believed he was the Jets’ answer at the QB position.

However, after bringing Rodgers in, it became very apparent that he might not be what the organization is looking for moving forward.

Can Zach Wilson support Garrett Wilson throughout the 2023 season despite his track record?

Or, will the Jets decide to bring in another quarterback to challenge him for the starting role, assuming Rodgers is out for the season?

The next several days will be telling.

The Jets have a lot of important decisions to make ahead of a long season where they are hoping to break their playoff drought.
