Former Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl hasn’t coached a game in the NBA since 2016, but he has occasionally let his thoughts be known on certain topics.
Right now, the Nuggets are getting ready to play the Minnesota Timberwolves in what should be a competitive and interesting second-round playoff series that will feature two-time MVP center Nikola Jokic versus Minnesota’s big-man duo of Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns.
Coincidentally or not, Jokic wears the same jersey No. 15 that Carmelo Anthony, arguably the Nuggets’ best player ever before Jokic came around, once wore in Denver.
Karl feels the franchise should retire that No. 15 for both men, per Legion Hoops.

Jokic is considered by many to be the best basketball player in the world these days, but Anthony wasn’t too shabby himself some 15 years ago.
He was the No. 3 pick in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Nuggets, who, at the time, had been a laughingstock for many years, but he quickly made them respectable.
They made the playoffs in Anthony’s first season with them, starting a streak of 10 consecutive seasons in which they reached the postseason, and in 2009, they went to the Western Conference Finals.
But Anthony demanded a trade during the 2010-11 season, and he got his wish that winter when he was sent to the New York Knicks.
After several somewhat productive seasons there, he bounced around from team to team before announcing his retirement last year after not playing during the 2022-23 season.
Karl was his head coach from midway through the 2004-05 season until he was sent to New York.
