Team USA’s men’s basketball team is headed to the gold medal game Saturday, where they’ll face off against France.
That is a matchup many people are excited about, especially since the French team has great big men in Rudy Gobert and Victor Wembanyama.
It should be a true test for Team USA, which should make for a great final game.
While that is the case, Team USA nearly missed out on an opportunity to win the gold medal.
They blew through their competition, but when it came to playing Team Serbia, they almost lost in a heartbreaker.
While they won and are on to the final game of the Olympics, the Serbian team is walking away without a chance to win gold.
Their most notable player, of course, was Nikola Jokic, who helped give Team USA a run for their money.
Jokic continues to be one of the biggest stars in the league, and he has already propelled the Denver Nuggets to their first NBA Finals title in team history.
He is a one-of-a-kind player, which caused George Karl to recently call it a “true shame if the Nuggets don’t win another title or two in Jokic’s prime,” a sentiment he shared on Twitter.
It would be a true shame if the Nuggets don’t win another title or two in Jokic’s prime – which will be another three or four years without a major injury.

Jokic can take over a game at any given moment, and if the Nuggets continue to build around him, they could be viewed as annual contenders that would be tough to match up with, even for the most star-studded of opponents.
