The Pittsburgh Steelers had a golden opportunity to assert themselves in the AFC North when they played the Cleveland Browns in Week 11.
The Browns were forced to start rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson as Deshaun Watson was ruled out for the remainder of the 2023 NFL season.
With Thompson-Robinson under center, the Steelers had every opportunity to shut down their opponent and rack up another win.
However, Pittsburgh’s offense struggled mightily to get anything going against Cleveland’s stout defense and they wound up losing 13-10.
The offensive struggles have been a sore point for fans the past couple of years and the Steelers apparently had enough as they let go of former offensive coordinator Matt Canada.
Canada’s firing was a little unexpected given head coach Mike Tomlin has defended him throughout the year, but the news apparently didn’t reach George Pickens until a day later via Brian Batko of Post-Gazette Sports.
Steelers wideout George Pickens didn’t have much reaction to the Matt Canada news. If anything, he had a bit of a delayed reaction given that it took a while for the announcement to get to him. pic.twitter.com/rMIWgvdqeK

Pickens revealed that he doesn’t use his phone or social media much, so when the news flooded the Internet on Tuesday he was unaware.
The young wideout said he didn’t find out that Canada was fired until the next day when he came to the facility and the team broke the news to him.
Pickens didn’t have much of a reaction to Canada’s firing which is an indicator that he may not have been a fan of him and his scheme.
However, the change in coordinators could mean that Pickens will be featured more in the offense and for good reason given that he’s their most talented pass-catcher.
