The NBA is one league where teams are not afraid to pay players massive sums of money.
We have seen numerous free agents receive eye-opening contracts.
But one player who is deserving of a massive deal is Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis.
The Lakers star just received a contract extension that is the richest annual extension in NBA history.
The deal for Davis is a three-year extension for $186 million.
But he will not be receiving all of that money.
That is because taxes will kick in and a large portion of Davis’ contract will not be his.

Of that money, $1.8 million will be going to Jock Tax and $1.4 million will be going to FICA.
Those taxes will be more money than some other NBA player’s entire salary next year.
But that is why playing in Los Angeles may not be desirable to some players.
Davis will only end up making $24 million in net income.
If he were to play in a state with no income tax like Florida or Texas he would make much more money.
However, Davis will make most of this back in endorsements.
