Over the last few years, several stars of the NBA have made big career changes and headed overseas to play basketball.
But could Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks be one to officially play outside the United States?
According to him, he wouldn’t be against the idea at all.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, via ClutchPoints, Antetokounmpo was asked if he’d play overseas.
“If the NBA worked out, maybe like a trade between the NBA and Saudi Arabia League, I’m there!” Antetokounmpo responded.

And just like that, fans of the Bucks all felt their hearts drop.
But they shouldn’t be panicking just yet.
Antetokounmpo is referencing a time in the far future when he has retired from the league.
Most agree that this wasn’t him attempting to secretly make a deal or suggest some sort of trade.
However, Antetokounmpo’s response shows that the idea of playing in other countries isn’t looked down upon like it used to be.
While the NBA is still the gold standard for basketball, many athletes are making a lot of money and finding great success playing in China, Taiwan, Spain, and beyond.
There are now many people, some who were even NBA champions, who are making a living playing in foreign leagues.
Meanwhile, the popularity of the sport is on the rise in nations all over the world.
Today, there are many superstars – including Antetokounmpo – who have come to the NBA from another country.
All of this has made the fanbases in other regions so much stronger and more loyal.
It’s very unlikely that Antetokounmpo will be one of the athletes spending time overseas, but the number of former and current NBA stars who are packing their bags and moving away is growing.
