The Milwaukee Bucks became a better team during the offseason by trading for Damian Lillard.

The Bucks acquired Lillard in exchange for a trade package around Jrue Holiday, who was sent to the Portland Trail Blazers.

While Lillard is viewed as a better player than Holiday, Giannis Antetokounmpo undoubtedly shared a brotherly bond with his former teammate.

According to Marc J. Spears via NBACentral on Twitter, Antetokounmpo shared that he always thought of Holiday as a brother instead of a teammate.

“You never know down the road, you still might be teammates again. I love him. I don’t love him as a basketball player. I love him as a brother,” Antetokounmpo said about Holiday.

Giannis repeatedly mentioned his love for Holiday.

Holiday was a key member of the 2021 Milwaukee Bucks roster that won the NBA Championship.

In previous years, Antetokounmpo repeatedly failed to lead the Bucks to a championship, but Holiday’s elite defense and solid scoring ability made things easier for the team.

Lillard is a much better scorer than Holiday, as he averaged 32.2 points per game last season.

But when it comes to playing elite defense, Holiday is miles ahead of the former Portland Trail Blazers superstar.

The Bucks have made the decision to trust Lillard for now.

Whether it pays off or makes the team worse will be found out when the new season begins.

For now, most fans are focused on the Bucks’ star duo of Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo, finally playing their first game together.

Although it’s a preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers, it will be a good way to get the first impressions of the dynamic duo before the 2023-24 season starts.
